PiicoDev Servo Driver (4 Channel)

The four-channel PiicoDev servo controller used by Pi Servo Gauge, with separate USB-C power for servo current.

Description

The PiicoDev Servo Driver controls up to four RC servos independently using a dedicated PCA9685 PWM controller. It is the exact driver named by the Meow Meow Scratch Pi Servo Gauge project.

Compatibility

  • Connects to Raspberry Pi through the PiicoDev Adapter for Raspberry Pi and a PiicoDev cable.
  • Uses a 3.3 V I²C interface with addresses 0x44 through 0x47.
  • Accepts a separate 5 V USB-C supply for the servo power rail.
  • Can control angular or continuous-rotation RC servos when software and power are configured for that servo.

Power is separate

Servos are power-hungry. Do not expect the PiicoDev cable or Raspberry Pi GPIO rail to power them. Use a quality 5 V USB-C supply sized for the servo load; Core recommends budgeting about 0.7 A per micro servo and potentially much more for standard servos.

Included here: driver board only. Servo, USB-C power supply, adapter and PiicoDev cable are separate.
