Adafruit ADXL345 3-Axis Accelerometer Breakout

A 3-axis I²C accelerometer breakout matched to the Raspberry Pi earthquake-detector project.

Description

This Adafruit ADXL345 breakout supplies the three-axis acceleration data required by the Raspberry Pi earthquake-detector project.

Project compatibility

  • Use the breakout in I²C mode at the project’s default address, 0x53.
  • Wire VIN to the Pi’s 3.3 V rail, with SDA and SCL on the standard I²C pins.
  • The breakout’s regulator and level shifting make it practical for Pi prototyping.

Before wiring

Secure the sensor rigidly to the surface being monitored; loose wires and a moving breadboard will create false vibration readings. Header pins may require soldering unless you use a compatible STEMMA QT cable.
