Description
This APDS9960 breakout is the sensor used by the Raspberry Pi gesture-control project. It recognises directional hand gestures and also exposes proximity, ambient-light and colour data.
Project compatibility
- Uses I²C address
0x39. - Wire VIN to 3.3 V for the project, plus SDA, SCL and ground.
- Works with the CircuitPython APDS9960 library used in the guide.
Before wiring
Keep the sensor’s optical window unobstructed and away from strong direct sunlight while testing. Header pins may require soldering unless a compatible STEMMA QT cable is used.
