PiicoDev Magnetometer MMC5603

The current MMC5603 PiicoDev magnetometer used by Pi Compass for three-axis magnetic-field and compass-heading measurements.

Description

The current PiicoDev Magnetometer uses an MMC5603 to measure magnetic fields on three axes. It is the exact current-revision module named by the Meow Meow Scratch Pi Compass project.

Compatibility

  • Connects to Raspberry Pi through the PiicoDev Adapter for Raspberry Pi and a PiicoDev cable.
  • Uses I²C address 0x30 and 3.3 V PiicoDev signalling.
  • PiicoDev connectors are compatible with Qwiic and STEMMA QT at 3.3 V.

Placement matters

Keep the module away from the Raspberry Pi, speakers, motors, steel fasteners and current-carrying wires when measuring compass heading. A longer cable helps reduce magnetic interference. Calibrate the completed assembly in its final mounting position.

Revision note: this listing is for the MMC5603 revision, not the earlier QMC6310 module.
