KY-040 Rotary Encoder Module with Push Button

Description

This KY-040 module provides the incremental quadrature encoder and integrated push button required by the Meow Meow Scratch Pi Knob Controller.

Raspberry Pi wiring

• Power the module from 3.3V so its CLK, DT and SW outputs remain Pi-safe.
• Connect CLK to GPIO17, DT to GPIO27 and SW to GPIO22 as documented.
• The encoder has no absolute position; software counts clockwise and anticlockwise detents from its starting point.
• The project handles the switch as an active-low input with a pull-up.
