Adafruit SCD-30 NDIR CO₂ Sensor Breakout

A true NDIR CO₂ sensor breakout for the Raspberry Pi CO₂ monitor project, with temperature and humidity sensing over I²C.

Description

The Adafruit SCD-30 breakout is the exact sensor class used by the Raspberry Pi CO₂ monitor project: a Sensirion NDIR CO₂ module with temperature and humidity readings over I²C.

Project compatibility

  • Uses I²C address 0x61.
  • Connect the breakout’s VIN to the Pi’s 3.3 V rail for this project.
  • Compatible with the Adafruit CircuitPython SCD30 library used by the guide.

Before wiring

CO₂ readings need fresh-air calibration and adequate airflow around the sensor. The breakout includes regulation and level shifting, but follow the project’s 3.3 V wiring. Depending on the connection method, header soldering or a compatible STEMMA QT cable may be required.
