Description
This regulated 5V, 4A wall supply provides enough current for the 30-pixel WS2812B strip used by the Christmas-lights build, with useful headroom over its calculated 1.8A maximum at full white. It also suits longer versions of the LED-dashboard build when the supply is sized against the final pixel count.
What it connects to
- Output: regulated 5V DC, up to 4A.
- Connector: centre-positive 5.5mm outer / 2.1mm inner barrel plug.
- Use a matching female barrel-jack-to-screw-terminal adapter to connect the strip’s separate 5V and ground wires.
Before buying
- This version is made for Australian mains sockets. Choose a locally approved equivalent in other countries.
- Do not feed this supply into the Raspberry Pi GPIO power pin. Power the LED strip directly and join only the grounds so the Pi and strip share a common reference.
- Size the supply for the actual number of pixels. The guide’s conservative calculation is 60mA per pixel at full white.
- This barrel-plug supply is not the correct connector for the PiicoDev Servo Driver, which expects external power through USB-C.
- Specifications and availability can change, so check the retailer listing before ordering.
