Description
This two-part magnetic door sensor contains a normally-open reed switch, matching the Meow Meow Scratch Pi Door Monitor project.
Project compatibility
- The switch closes when the magnet is brought within roughly 10mm.
- Connect one switch lead to GPIO18 and the other to ground.
- The project enables the Raspberry Pi’s internal pull-up, so the input reads high when the door is open and low when closed.
- The passive switch is non-polarised and does not apply an external voltage to GPIO.
